MY STORY
I grew up in a quiet town in Northeast China. Life was simple, and the people around me were warm and kind. By all accounts, it was a good childhood.
But even then, I often felt that something was missing. I didn't know what I was looking for—I only knew that I hadn't found it yet.
A career that looked successful, but never felt complete.
Shanghai gave me opportunities I could never have imagined. It shaped my career, challenged me, and helped me grow. But while I was busy building presentations and campaigns, I slowly realized I wasn't building a life. I rarely watched the sunset. I barely explored the city I lived in. Work filled every corner of my days. Eventually, I knew I had to leave.
Finding a home in photography.
When I first arrived in Vienna five years ago, I could barely speak English, let alone German. For more than a year, I had no job and no clear direction. It felt as though I was falling apart while quietly rebuilding myself at the same time.
What kept me going was photography.
Before sunrise, I would walk along the Danube with my camera. Late at night, I wandered through Vienna's old streets, photographing the city when it was almost empty. Day after day, I spent hours learning to observe—to slow down, to notice light, emotion, and the beauty hidden in ordinary moments.
Photography became more than my profession. It became the way I understand people, places, and myself. Every time I pick up my camera, I'm reminded that the most meaningful moments in life are often the quietest ones.
Photography begins when you forget I'm holding a camera.
In front of my camera, you don’t need to pose or become someone you’re not. The moment you forget I’m carrying a camera, I believe the real photographs begin. That’s when people stop performing and simply become themselves. Capturing those honest, unguarded moments is what keeps me inspired every time I pick up my camera.
Although Vienna is where I’m based, my work takes me beyond the city and across Austria, as well as to nearby destinations such as Prague and Milan. Wherever I photograph, I’m always looking for the same thing: quiet, genuine moments that reveal who you truly are.
